ITEN WIRED: GROWING THE CYBER COAST
ITEN (Innovation Technology Education Network) WIRED Summit is the Southeast’s premier cybersecurity and IT conference to connect, collaborate and build community with industry leaders, entrepreneurs and educators on innovation, technology and entrepreneurship topics.
The three-day event highlights the area’s cybersecurity, information technology and entrepreneurial communities and explores emerging technology and innovators in start-up tech, artificial intelligence, robotics, and emerging technologies on the national scene.
The summit, which began as an economic development initiative in 2008 by the Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce is now hosted by IT Gulf Coast and Florida West Economic Development Alliance.
ITEN WIRED also operates as a not-for-profit, tourism-focused, community event with proceeds being donated back to local STEM initiatives and to student scholarships.
“ITEN WIRED significantly contributes to the development and expansion of the Cyber Coast. The summit highlights emerging trends and thought leaders in cybersecurity and technology and brings the community together to enhance collaboration, innovation, and entrepreneurship. We are honored to continue supporting ITEN WIRED and the Cyber Defense Competition, which provides opportunities for students to gain real-world experience and network with professionals. We appreciate the opportunity that the summit provides to exchange ideas, develop partnerships and advance the Cyber Coast.“
– Eman El-Sheikh, Ph.D., Director, University of West Florida Center for Cybersecurity
“GDIT has sponsored ITEN WIRED for three years, last year we decided to be a Platinum sponsor. As a result, we saw a 400% increase in job applications for regional positions at the GDIT website! Our sponsorship drove candidates to our website to apply to vacancies. This saved GDIT and the Pensacola based operation $160,000 in Third Party Labor Service (3PLS) provider fees and allowed us to sustain a 98% Full Time Employee rate. We will be seeking to repeat our level of involvement this year as the labor market continues to get tighter and tighter.”
– Sean O’Brien, Director, Navy Business Systems, GDIT

“What ITEN WIRED does is bring together the community dedicated to business growth in IT Services for NW Florida. It attracts talent, business leaders and innovation to connect at the event and learn from each other. At the 2018 ITEN WIRED, a small business outreach initiative (SBOI) attracted agency representatives, large prime contractors and small businesses actively working on and pursuing federal contracting.”

“As a student attendee, speaker and committee member, I have had the pleasure of watching ITEN WIRED grow over the past few years and bring together veterans and aspiring members of the tech and entrepreneurship community. ITEN WIRED has allowed me to grow personally and professionally, and the value it brings to the Northwest Florida region is monumental. I have met countless interesting and driven individuals who want to contribute to the economy and technological advancement of the region through summit activities and external festivities.
I advocate bringing more students and young entrepreneurs into the conference to build the high tech workforce of the future in our community, and I hope to stick around myself to see ITEN WIRED spearhead the networking and development of the attendees and their companies and projects.”
