The USA Technology & Research Park (USA TechPark), launched in April 2002, is a major economic development initiative of the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. It brings University resources and the technology business community together in a single location that expands educational opportunities for students, provides new research relationships for faculty and offers new growth prospects for businesses focusing on information technology, engineering and biomedicine.
“One of the most important missions of a modern research university is supporting community economic development and healthy job growth,” says USA President Gordon Moulton. “Through the USA Technology and Research Park, we are building partnerships between businesses and our faculty researchers, students and graduates – all working together in a University environment – to create, attract and retain high-technology jobs for the Mobile area.”
The USA TechPark, on 35 acres just north of the main University campus, is a focal point of high-technology economic growth for Mobile and the Upper Gulf Coast which will attract, retain and grow sustainable, knowledge-based jobs. The USA TechPark is home to existing small and mid-sized technology-based corporations. Later growth of the Park is expected to support the launch and incubation of new start-up companies
Current companies in the Park: Mentor Graphics, Computer Technology Solutions Inc. (CTS), Radiance Technologies Inc., Strand Associates Inc., Enveloc Inc., Toxicological and Environmental Associates Inc.
