Business Technology Commercialization Program

The Business Technology Commercialization Program at the Florida Small Business Development Center Network provides support for small and medium-sized enterprises engaged in R&D or manufacturing in Florida. The BTC Program was established to promote the rapid commercialization of innovative products and processes, systems integration, productivity and quality improvements by manufacturing and R&D firms in Florida. The BTC Program provides training, counseling, information resources, and referrals to small and medium-sized enterprises, economic development professionals, and academic researchers to support the start-up, retention and expansion of technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises in Florida.

Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer

The SBIR/STTR Phase 0 Pilot Programs helps Florida companies increase their chances of submitting a successful Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) proposal for federal research and development funds. The Phase 0 Pilot Program includes: a professional assessment of your proposed concept and the potential for an award of up to $3,000 to implement recommendations for proposal improvements.

The SBIR/STTR Phase 1.5 Program is offered by Florida’s Great Northwest to assist companies located in Northwest Florida that have completed Phase 1 research and have been invited to make application for Phase 2 SBIR/STTR funding. The Phase 1.5 Program includes: a professional assessment of your application, which will be reviewed for completeness and the potential for an award of up to $10,000 to implement recommendations for proposal improvement.

The SBIR/STTR programs are administered by the U.S. Small Business Administration and are used to create economic opportunities for small, high-tech, and innovative businesses in the United States.
