Cogon Systems is a local healthcare software company that provides hospitals with leading-edge information technology solutions. Cogon Systems was founded by a practicing physician, Dr. Huy Nguyen, to solve the real-life problems that caregivers face in trying to obtain timely and accurate information at the crucial ‘moment of care.’ While serving as Senior Medical Officer at NAS Pensacola, Dr. Nguyen was issued a PDA by the Navy, but it only provided medical reference content and did not connect to the clinical information systems containing patient information, such as radiology or laboratory reports. He brought the initial idea to his Command to integrate medical reference content with clinical information on PDA’s but was met with the question: “You’re a Doctor, why are talking to us about technology?” This pushback led in time to the formation of Cogon Systems and the development of its Moment of CareTM products and services.
Through user-friendly software design and development, Cogon Systems delivers a clinical software solution that is based on the physician’s perspective but improves the quality of care and safety for patients.
With their continued research & development efforts, Cogon Systems five-year plan forecasts revenues of about $14M in 2010.
